Trauma-informed Yoga

“Trauma-informed Yoga” denotes that your teacher puts the needs of their students above their class plan, and has the training to pivot and make space for the difficult emotions that may arise during a yoga practice.

In many ways, any good yoga teacher can teach with a trauma informed lens. But if someone labels themself as trauma informed, it means that they have taken careful consideration to treat your nervous system as you heal.

All of my classes are trauma conscious, yet I build specific classes to help people in trauma recovery feel at home in their own body.

Trauma informed yoga classes can help us:

  • Understand the aches and pains inside our body (AKA Increase interoception)

  • Feel less clumsy (AKA Increase proprioception)

  • Recover self-awareness

  • Practice non-judgment towards ourselves and others

  • Unearth deeply held emotions

  • Smile

And don’t forget where we’re going - we want to get back to having fun again.
